Fear of God Devotional: Repentance Requires A Rethinking Of The Gospel

We do have to rethink the Gospel. If God is a big God and I’m a small person and sin is a heinous crime, a thief of God’s glory then what’s the gospel it has to be something more than just asking Jesus into my heart. It’s more than just Jesus loves me and has a plan for my life. There would be a mountain range of truths the greatness of God revealed in the redemptive labors of Christ that stretch from eternity past to eternity future and all the wonderful facets of redemption. But if I have a small view of God and I have a big deal of myself and a wrong view of sin and I don’t need much for salvation. I just need a little help. Perhaps I think I need a second chance. I only want God to get me off the hook. But the idea of being rescued from me is not really prominent in my mind. If we want to be a part of a real reformation one that brings about a lasting and deep a thorough and a happy repentance. We’re going to have to start with rethinking these great issues. God, me, sin and salvation.
