Formal Bio

Scott T. Brown is a pastor at Hope Baptist Church and the director of the National Center for Family-Integrated Churches, spending his time as an expository preacher and helping people think through the two greatest institutions God has provided — the church and the family. Scott graduated from California State University in Fullerton with a degree in History and received a Master of Divinity degree from Talbot School of Theology.

I’ve been involved in various forms of public speaking for over 35 years. I started as a young pastor fresh out of seminary in southern California to feed my flock from Scripture. I also spent over a decade in sales and marketing and as a CEO focused on leadership in the electronics manufacturing industry where I was thrust into many situations where public speaking was part of my role. I have started, built, and sold companies over the years and very much enjoy establishing organizations. I have spoken at many church and family discipleship conferences focusing on biblical leadership in the church and the family.  I have spoken in seminaries and Bible colleges both here and overseas.

The heart of my message is that Scripture is sufficient to address any subject. That is why my driving passion is to study the Bible for answers to all of life’s questions whether they be church or family or leadership or anything else. God gave us His Word to teach us how to be faithful to Him in “all things pertaining to life and godliness.” I view my job as a speaker to speak not from my own innovative ideas, but simply to apply the Word to the issues of today. My greatest desire is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ, to explain the beauty of His Kingdom and to call everyone to understand and recognize the power of the gospel.

When I speak, I’m bringing to the table experience from 35 years of church leadership, 20 years of executive business management, and almost three decades as a father. I have spoken in many churches across the country, in large event centers, in classrooms, in open air environments, in attics and living rooms.

As a local church pastor, my focus is expository preaching. My greatest joy is to explain Scripture, line by line, chapter by chapter, section by section. I believe this is perhaps the greatest need of the hour for the modern church.

Often, when I speak to audiences outside my home town,  my messages are not expository, but rather topical. However, I love to bring expository messages whenever I have the opportunity.

My most common speaking topics  when I travel focus on church and family issues. These two institutions are the focus of almost everything that I do. I believe that the reformation of these two institutions, according to the Word of God, is the key to living faithfully in every generation.  I have messages on biblical manhood and womanhood, boyhood and girlhood. I deliver messages on family life, and marriage. I often speak on the complimentary role of church and family, family economics, preparing children for marriage and child discipline. I absolutely love to speak with young people who are single to help them think through the use of their single years.

Here’s a list of some of my messages:

The Greatest Untapped Evangelistic Opportunity Before the Modern Church

One of the most overlooked opportunities for evangelism in the modern American Church lies right before us – our children. I this message I take parents and church leaders go back to God’s word to recover a biblical vision of gospel evangelism through discipleship.

A Biblical Case for Age-Integrated Discipleship

Age-integrated discipleship is not just a good idea or a better model, it is actually clearly laid out in Scripture as God’s model for passing on the knowledge he has entrusted to us.

Church Killers

I have given this message in many churches around America to inspire unity and warn against the unseen dangers that lurk to destroy local churches.

The Complementary Roles of Church and Family

There is a beautiful and organic relationship that God has designed to exist between the two distinct and unique instituions of the family and the church. In this speech I cast a biblical vision for harmony between this two institutions, by identifying the clear distinctions of the God given roles for each.

What Is a Family-Integrated Church?

I am asked this question all the time and have given this message all around the country to answer it. Simply put, a family integrated church is a Christ centered bible saturated local body which models the biblical patterns of discipleship and worship. The Bible presents church life where the generations are together for discipleship and worship, and are not fragmented into age or life stage categories.

Profile of a Courageous Father – Joshua

Joshua is one of the most inspiring examples for the 21st century father looking for a model of courage and leadership amidst a culture of compromise and self indulgence. In this speech I examine the life lessons of Joshua and cast a vision for today’s father to walk in his example of courage.

I have dozens of messages on fatherhood, and the profiles of fathers in the Bible as well as expositional messages on the great fatherhood passage in the Bible.

How Do I Become the Father God Wants Me to Be?

There are few things I get more excited about than dads who take their job seriously. And the only way to be serious about fatherhood is to go back to the blueprint we have been given in God’s word. There are clearly laid out achievable objectives that the Scripture gives us to know how to be faithful fathers in an unfaithful world.

Here are some message titles I give that are directed to young people:

  • Preparing Boys for Battle
  • What Does Jesus Say About Singleness?
  • How Single Young People Should Relate to One Another in the Church
  • Walking With Your Father
  • Redeeming the Time — Boys Who Take Dominion
  • The Heart of the Battle Between Fathers and Sons
  • Feminine by Design
