Here are my grandsons, Triumph and Knox, making their way through the Military Obstacle Course that we set up for Memorial Day. With an imaginary sniper bunkered down in a fox hole, teams of young soldiers tried to complete the obstacle course.
These dear and heroic veterans need encouragement. They are largely unappreciated. They have been forgotten by many. Their stories are being lost. Each one has spent their lives dealing with the implications of their experiences in the Second World War, and yet today many are spending their final years alone and lonely. This is one reason we are asking you join us by working to make this Memorial Day meaningful for the generations — for the present generation and for some of our surviving World War II fathers.
