Our good friends at FORGE Ministries down in Texas will be putting on a conference this September. The conference is titled Rebuilding the Wall for a Godly Heritage. This will be a fantastic gathering. I love the way this conference is organized - around the book of Nehemiah. I wish I could attend, but I will be in Africa with some missionaries that our church supports.

At this year's conference, speakers such as Kevin Swanson, R.C. Sproul Jr., Curtis Bowers, Don Hart, Steve Hopkins, John Latham, Colin Gunn, and Tom Ford will dig deep into Nehemiah and speak to men, woman, children, and families about returning to the foundation. We want to urge them to help rebuild the walls of the family, the church, and the community.

Nehemiah wept when he heard “the wall of Jerusalem was broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.” (Nehemiah 1:3). He fasted and prayed before God, confessing sin and asking for mercy. Nehemiah then went back to the foundation and began rebuilding.

We have gotten off track today. The family is being weakened, marriage is being redefined, the church no longer speaks out about sin or repentance, the church no longer addresses the issues plaguing our country, and the state is reaching farther and farther into our lives.

We need to return to the true foundation: the foundation of the Lord Jesus Christ. We need to confess our sins, repent, take our section just like the people in Nehemiah did, and begin laying the stones.

Each member of the body of Christ is essential in accomplishing God’s redemptive purpose. All of God’s people are needed to rebuild the walls!
