Steven Lawson concluded the messages at "The Glory of Jesus Christ" conference by preaching out of Revelation 22:16-21, the last section of verses in the Bible. The Bible ends with a glorious picture of the bride pleading for Christ's return, and Christ's assurance that He will come again quickly.

Here are the major points that Lawson drew out of the passage:

  • The Final Identification (v. 16) - Jesus puts His name on the book of Revelation, identifying himself as Jesus and "the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star." He is the God-man, the descendant of David. He is the author of this book, and the object and subject of it.
  • The Final Petition (v. 17) - There is a longing and cry from the bride of Christ to return! She desires to embrace Him. She wants Him to come and inherit the world, to rule over it. All redeemed saints ought to be pleading and desiring for the return of Christ. There is an invitation that we must preach far and wide in these verses: to come and "take the water of life freely."
  • The Final Admonition (v. 18-19) - This is a stern warning. There will be judgment added upon those who add and take away from the book of Revelation. "God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." This does not mean that you can lose your salvation, rather if you add or take away from this book, it is a clear indication that your name was never written in it to begin with.
  • The Final Assurance (v. 20-21) - Jesus Himself assures once again that He will come again quickly. The author John says, "Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!" He wants Him to come right now! Do you grow weary of this sin-filled world? Is there a longing in your heart for the Lord to come again? We ought to be crying out with John, "Amen! Come quickly Lord!" The last verse contains a prayer for the "grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all."
  • The Final Punctuation (v. 21) - A final amen to all that has been revealed to us in this book!

We ought to be eagerly awaiting for the return of Christ! Awaiting for Him to come again, and take us all home to glory! Are we pleading and desiring for the quick return of the Lord Jesus Christ? He is coming again. Lawson concluded with saying that we may not know the exact hour when He is going to come back, but we are closer to His second coming than we have ever been in history.
